Needle magnifier?

Can this be used to see the needle size and type on your machine Needle? I’m constantly forgetting what needle size I’m using and also the type. I’ve got a magnifier, but it doesn’t really work well on needles. It would also be great if the spot on had a larger size or even a long square in different sizes for the length of the ruler. Thanks😊
