Project Sheet Updates & Modifications

Our goal is to keep the instructions in our project sheets simple and clear, but detailed enough so that you aren’t left guessing. We are continually reviewing our project sheets to add tricks or shortcuts, clear up ambiguities and correct mistakes. Changes are added almost immediately to our downloads, and added to hard copies when we reprint. Correction to step 9 of the Diana - Classy Handbag pattern.
To make the tab enclosure directions clearer we've replaced step 9 with the following:
9. Make the tab enclosure. Cut a strip 2.5 x 8.5” from fabric 5. Back the strip with medium weight fusible interfacing. Fold the strip in half lengthwise wrong sides together, turn each long end under ¼” and topstitch down the long edge. Press. Fold the strip into an arrow, baste the bottom of the arrow together and topstitch the bottom of the triangle at the tip of the arrow as shown in Photo 7.

Correction to step 7 of the Bella Pineapple Pack - Farmer's Market Shopper.
Remove line at end of step 7, as you'll be doing this in step 10:
"except leave an opening in one side 6” long so you can turn the bag right side out later."

Clarification on step 3, the sentence after "Extend the exterior with strips" should read
"Select one strip each in fabric 1, 3 and 4 for a total of three strips."

Correction to step 6 of the Bella Pineapple Pack - Tote Bag Set pattern.
Additional step after Photo 5:
Turn the bottom edges of the strips under 1/4" and press.

Correction to step 3 & step 4 of the Carla Pineapple Pack - Star in the Window pattern.
References to 'pinwheel' should be replaced with 'star square'.
The last sentence in Step 4 which is in parathesis should be ignored and replaced with "You will need to piece the strips."

Correction to step 5 & step 6 of the Fat Eighth Pattern - The Mini Apron.
Step 5 should now read
5. Make the center pleats on the apron front and the lining. Pull the apron front away from the lining. Mark the center point at the top of the apron front. Starting on one side of the center mark, make a fold towards the center about 1/2” wide. Pin and press. Photo 4. Repeat for the other side of the center line. Baste the pleats in place. Topstitch down along the fold lines stopping just above or even with the top of the second strip. Photo 5. Repeat this process for the lining. Make sure the lining and exterior are the same width. Pin the panels together and baste them to ready them for the waistband/ties.
6. First two sentences "Cut each of the 2 strips you set aside in step 1 into 3 strips 2 1/4” x 21” to make six strips. From one of the leftover scraps, cut 2 more 2 1/4” x 21” strips for a total of eight. "

Adult Apron Section - Step 8
8. Second sentence “Cut two 3" strips from the bonus quarter in fabric 5 the length of the waist plus an inch (we will trim later).”
Childrens Apron Section - Step 5
5. First sentence “From the Bonus Quarter in Fabric 1, cut a 5 x 10" rectangle for the pocket front.”

Correction to Step 1 & Step 2 of the Fran Pineapple Pattern - Tablet Cover & Accessories Pouch - Tablet Accessories Pouch Section
1. Third sentence “Cut the panel into two pieces (across the strips) one side 6 ½”, one side 11 ½”.
2. All of Step 2 should be replaced by the following:
Cut 4 strips 18” long. Sew the long sides RST. Press. Sew four 2.5” squares together vertically. Press. Place the square panel onto the strip panel RST matching seams about 7” from the left side. Pin and stitch onto the strip panel. Trim the excess off. Now stitch the piece you just trimmed back onto the right side of the vertical square panel. Stitch together 4 more 2.5” squares together vertically. Press. Place the lining panel right side up on your cutting mat. Place the exterior panel onto the lining panel. Draw a line on the lining panel along the right edge of the exterior. Set aside the exterior. Draw another line on the lining panel 2.5” to the left of the first line you drew. Place the second square strip on the lining panel RST so that the right edge of the square strip is even with the second line. Stitch the square strip on. Press open. Place the exterior back on the lining to make sure they are the same width. Make adjustments if necessary. Trim the excess fabric from the lining.

Correction to Step 11 of the Fran Pineapple Pattern - Origami Backpack
11. Sew front lining to back lining RST along side seams; press seams toward front. Sew front outer backpack to back outer backpack RST along side seams; press seams toward back. Mark sides at upper edges of outer backpack; baste raw edges of a tie to each side at upper edge RST. (continued)

Correction to Step 3 of the 10" Squares Pattern - Mountain & Valley Quilt
3. Make 3 alternative rows as per Figure 7. These will be the even rows. Note: You will be three half triangles short, but you will have 3 extra whole triangles. Work one whole triangle into each row by using it in place of a half triangle.

Correction to Step 10 of the Bella Pineapple Pattern - The Farmer's Market Shopper
10. Finishing the bag bottom. Pull the lining away from the exterior right sides out and carefully press the top edge and the handles. Once pressed, pull the lining away from the exterior so that both pieces are inside out. Tuck the straps out of the way. Match the bottom edges of the bag exterior RST and stitch.  Repeat for the lining except leave a 5” opening so you can turn the bag right side out later. Photo 5. Reposition the corner edges of the lining bottom so that the seam is centered. Pin and stitch using a 1/2” seam allowance creating a box shape. Photo 6. Repeat for remaining corners. Turn right sides out through the opening in the lining. Press the seams. Slipstitch the opening closed. Seat the lining in the bag and press the top edge and the rest of the bag.

Correction to Step 1 of the Alice Pineapple Pattern - Lil' Snuggler Quilt
1. Cutting the pieces for the block. Make one block at a time to reduce confusion. Place your first pair of fabrics together, both right sides up, one on top of the other. Make sure they are lined up as perfectly as possible. Starting from the left side of the pair, measure in 2 inches to the right using a ruler and cutting mat. Cut off the two-inch strip and set it aside. You will have 2 pieces. Keep them together for now. Rotate the fabric pair counterclockwise one turn. Cut another 2” strip off the left side of the pair. Set it aside in a different stack. Rotate the pair one turn again. Cut another 2” strip off the left side. Place this one in the second stack. Rotate the pair again one turn and cut another 2” strip off the left side. Place this strip in a third stack. Rotate the pair one turn again. Cut another 2" strip from the left side and place it in the third stack. Cut one last 2” strip off the left side. Place this one in a fourth stack. The remaining square is your last piece. Separate the strips into two sets, one for each block as depicted in Photo1.

Correction to Step 4 of the Carla Pineapple Pattern - Messenger Bag
Cut the rectangles into 10 x 10” squares instead of 10 x 12” squares.  Cut them both from BQ 3. Cut the strip for the first pocket from BQ 5. The strip remains the same for the second pocket.
