A Fresh, Whimsical Twist on the Traditional Block of the Month. Marcus is thrilled to present its very first Chunk-of-the-Month program—an inspired new take on the classic Block-of-the-Month concept, created by designer Chris Schulte of Green Light Quilts. "It’s my version of a block-of-the-month," Chris explains, "but instead of working on uniform blocks, participants create a new ‘chunk’ of the quilt each month. Each section is unique in size and style—just like the quilters making them!" Each “chunk” features basic piecing with a hint of appliqué, including Chris’ signature raw edge blooms. The evolving design keeps quilters engaged and inspired, with a sense of accomplishment at the end of each month. Since the overall layout is non-repetitive, each chunk brings a fresh creative experience.

The program features Kathleen's Story, a collection inspired by Chris’ mother, Kathleen. Delicate florals, paisleys, and buds mix beautifully with tone-on-tone textures, a charming cross-stitch panel, and eight tonal Strip-It™ variations. This collection features the soft color palette of sage, coral, dusty blue, butter, and warm neutrals. Each month for 10 months, you'll receive the pattern and all the fabrics needed to complete that section of the project. Available separately we are offering a 28-piece quarter yard collection of fabric all from Kathleen's Story to match back with your block of the month/chunk of the month project. Backing available separately as well, 5 yards x 44" wide or 2-1/2 yards x 108" wide is recommended. This intermediate project finishes at 68" x 71".
